Lucy and Cooper...and some Velvet Lapelles

Check out this band's Kickstarter! Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles are a band totally on their way up in the music industry.  I had the privialge of photographing Lucy's wedding last summer in Minnesota and I fell in love with Lucy and her husband Cooper (not to mention everyone of her family and friends). Good people with loads of talent that deserve all the support they get :)

Here are some highlights of their summer wedding...a little pick me up for all the Minnesotans back home enduring the last bits of winter.  

 

Ja and Bev Tecson

SO excited to blog this session! Ja and I started talking shop via Facebook a few months ago and luckily we were able to set up a time to shoot some photos while he and his wife Bev were in Maui on vacation. Ja and Bev work as a team photographing weddings and their stuff is BEAUTIFUL! Ja also shoots lifestyle photography (my favorite) has recently been commissioned by Nike to shoot some campaigns.  Check out their stuff (www.jatecson.com)...truly talented! 

I only had a couple of hours with the two and wished I had MORE! Bev and Ja are fun, open and completely in love with each other! I can't wait to work with them again! 

Terrah and Colin

YES! A WEDDING! haha sorry it has been so long! Thought this wedding would be a wonderful start back to blogging.  Terrah and Colin are a couple who know how to celebrate, to be grateful and most importantly to love. 

Katie and Kristopher Wedding

I know I've said to before but I LOVE small weddings.  The feel, the concept and the intimacy just spills out true love.  Katie and Kristopher's wedding included the couple and their parents and in small beach in Wailea.  Katie's dress was one of her own creations and looked stunning! An effortless look of glam.  Katie and Kristopher both share artistic traits: Katie is the creator of the clothing line Box 11 here on Maui and Kristopher shoots fine art photography with his pinhole cameras and Holgas.  One in which he had at his wedding.  I absolutley loved capturing Katie and Kristopher's wedding and can't wait to see the film photos!

Robby and Heidy Engagements

It's almost halfway through 2011 and I'm already getting amped up for 2012...one reason is this wedding. Robby and Heidy share a balance with one another in their not-so-typical life.  Robby is one of the worlds top windsurfers and spreads his time between Maui, Chile and the UK...his most important travel necessity... Heidy of course.  Heidy brings a constant to Robby's life.  She's one of the most supportive girlfriends I have ever met; endlessly filming Robby at work and helping edit and produce clips for the PWA and sponsors.  They work together and offer so much to the people around them.  Back in 2010 after the earthquake in Chile destroyed the village they built a home in Robby and Heidy put aside their own need to rebuild and aided in recovery efforts in the surrounding areas.  

A wedding date set for Feburary I cannot wait to see two of my well balanced friends become one.

Lani and Ezequiel Wedding

People say its lucky to have rain on your wedding day.  If this is true then Lani and Ezequiel are the luckiest people alive.  Their wedding day was in the mist of a three day rain down pour here in Maui but without a bit of panic the couple continued on with help of close friends and family.  Lani's dress was custom made, all the details were handmade and the amazing food was prepared by Ezequiel's family from Argentina.  The wedding had the beautiful blend of two cultures and was fully loaded with Lani and Ezequiel's personal styles.  Luckily, the rain halted long enough for the ceremony and photos...leaving nothing but beautifully lit memories.

Beautiful Girls

One of my favorite movies of all time is Beautiful Girls and with it comes one of the most fitting quotes for this blog post:

"A beautiful girl can make you dizzy, like you've been drinking Jack and Coke all morning. She can make you feel high full of the single greatest commodity known to man - promise. Promise of a better day. Promise of a greater hope. Promise of a new tomorrow. This particular aura can be found in the gait of a beautiful girl. In her smile, in her soul, the way she makes every rotten little thing about life seem like it's going to be okay."

 

Shaunna, Jason and Pacific Weddings Magazine

This may be the hardest blog post to do based souly on the pure excitement of it all and the need to make it perfect.  Perfect like the two who's wedding its all about.  Shaunna is one of my dearest friends that consistently drives me to do better, to be better and to look at everything as inspiration and beautiful.  Her poetic nature is addictive to everyone around her...so addictive that Jason Nygren fell deeply for it.  Shaunna and Jason's love story encompasses true romance that you'd swear only your grandparent's generation knew of.  They've spent the majority of their time together venturing off to new worlds, experiencing everything they could knowing that the two of them were all they needed.  They write love letters to one another, get lost in photographs and surround themselves in things timeless and classic...much like themselves.

Shaunna and Jason's wedding was so genuine and perfect to every detail that it is published in the Winter/Spring issue of Pacific Weddings 2011.  I'm extra happy about this because I not only get to finally post this wedding on my blog but I have a publication under my belt!
